Throat infection (angina)

12. December 2024

What is angina?

Angina (tonsillitis) is an infectious disease of the tonsils. Symptoms include a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, general malaise and, in most cases, a temperature.

If the infection is viral, it is treated purely symptomatically. Difficulty swallowing and sore throats can be treated with remedies such as neo-angin.

In case of a bacterial infection (e.g. streptococcus), however, it is essential to consult a doctor. Strict bed rest and plenty of fluids are also crucial to a quick recovery.
